ISWC 2005 - Do The Right Thing !!!
The ISWC 2005 conference has ended and now is the time for action!
"Publish the data! Annotate! Be there!" - these are some of the most motivating memes circulating in the air. And Eric Miller, the Activity Lead for the W3C Semantic Web Initiative, was one of the hottest proponents of some action [that fits his title well ].
Here is just a part of what you can and should do:
1) Generate SIOC! [shock]
Grab a WP SIOC plugin and drop it into your WordPress directory. It will instantly start to produce metadata describing your online community site = your blog.
" Danny installed the SIOC plugin and suddenly there's so much more information for the PiggyBank to use! " - EricM
For SIOC Developer discussions go to SIOC Forums or the mailing list.
2) Use PiggyBank!
Install PiggyBank / Use It!
PiggyBank is an exciting application presented at the ISWC 2005. It is a FireFox extension that turns your browser into a "Semantic Web browser", letting you make existing information on the Web more useful.
It can both make a good use of RDF data out there and use the data from regular web pages. You can then combine information from several web sites and use it all together.
3) Put Your Data Online!
Your papers, presentations, photos and videos - put them all online. Then annotate them and let people know.
Put them on the ISWC'2005 Semantic Bank!
Please let me know (just comment!) if you know the URLs or tags of the photos, videos and audio recordings that people took at ISWC 2005. Some photos can be found on Flickr tagged with 'galway' or 'iswc2005', but locating all your cool videos is not that easy unless you tell about them.
It would be especially good to find the audio recordings of keynote presentations - if everybody was recording dances at the Gala Dinner, maybe you also recorded those speeches?
Note: You can now add those links to the ISWC 2005 Media Index wiki page.
Thanks to John who blogged a very good set of ISWC 2005 resources.
Comments, Pingbacks:
